Scotland – Lochs, Castle & Cruise
There is a reason why Dunoon, Inveraray and the surrounding region of Scotland remains so popular with holidaymakers. The scenery is some of the best anywhere in the country, dotted with wonderful lochs and castles. And this fabulous Scottish tour takes in some of the best. From a leisurely cruise on Loch Lomond to the bustling harbour town of Oban and a stroll around stunning Inveraray Castle, this is a tour to be savoured.
As the ancestral seat of the Chief of Clan Campbell, Inveraray Castle & Gardens is one of Scotland’s finest stately homes with plenty to see over three floors, including the Clan Room, the French influenced Tapestry Drawing Room and the Victorian Room. Our journey takes us along the stunning scenic route around Loch Eck and Loch Fyne.
Discover the northern end of fjord-like Loch Lomond and enjoy an included cruise to sail over the deepest part of the Loch in the shadow of Ben Lomond.
Oban is situated on a sheltered, horseshoe bay, protected by the inner Hebridean island of Kerrea. It is the unofficial capital of the West Highlands, acclaimed as the ‘Gateway to the Isles’. Explore the town’s attractions, such as McCaig’s Tower & Battery Hill, Oban Distillery and the Oban War & Peace Museum. Browse the various shops, perhaps paying a visit to the popular, family-owned Oban Chocolate Company to sample its fresh handmade chocolates.
Delightful Dunoon itself is one of the Firth of Clyde’s foremost resorts, and famous for its large Victorian pier and attractive promenade. Our base will be the lovely Esplanade Hotel. Situated on the West Bay Promenade of Dunoon, overlooking the beach and with pretty gardens to the front, the location is not only ideal for our excursions but also a fabulous place from which to sit back and watch the world go by!
